My daughter's favourite soup is potato and bacon

and home made tomato goes down pretty well too

She used to happily eat 'brown vegetable soup' too until she became old enough to realise it contained dreaded mushrooms...

Tomato and red pepper soup usually goes down well.

Heinz tomato Grin

Loads of salt in Heinz tomato soup though (or at least there was last time I looked at a tin).

I make a variation of an annabel karmel tomato soup. It has onion, garlic, carrots, tinned tomatoes, tomato purée and veg stock or water and some cubed white bread to thicken (although I sometimes replace this with potato).

Mine seem to like any homemade soups. Ones I do regularly are:

Spiced Indian tomato
Leek and potato
Curried parsnip
Random veg from the fridge Grin

Leek and potato is a favourite here.

Ninetysixpercent · 29/07/2014 19:45

Mine will always eat:

Lentil and bacon-just add stock, carrots and onions.

Homemade Tomato- tin tomats, puree, stock, carrots, onions and celery, and parsnip blended with a little cream.

Minted Pea- peas, onions, potato, stock and mint, blended.

Great way to hide lots of veg. Ds insists he hates peas but loves my pea soup.

My toddler can't bear blended soups but very happily eats puy lentil, bacon & diced veg & tomato soup with grated cheese on top (Delia recipe), and also sort of minestrone - she likes the pulses, finely diced soffrito veg, pasta and tomato-ey bit. I then dish hers up before chucking in leaves/green beans/peas etc to everyone elses. Cheese on top also mandatory!

Not technically a soup as such but chickpea, chorizo & tomato stew is a MASSIVE hit. Usually pretty thick and spooned into a pitta/flatbread.

Agree chickpea, chorizo or bacon and tomato always goes down well and if i use garlic oil, it's probably the easiest dinner I make.

Minestrone is always popular too.

A mild laksa - noodles, prawns and sweet coconuts it's a hint of spice.

Creamed cauliflower or any root veg with truffle oil - I know it sounds poncy but we often make a creamed soup and let the dcs add flavoured oils at the table. I got a large sampler from a great deli - lemon, garlic, basil, rosemary and chilli oil and they enjoy having the control over their flavours, but I am a ponce and proud of it when it comes to food and my kids are used to this kind of nonsense.
