DD has 3 solid meals a day. Milk at breakfast , (trying to cut out lunch milk ) afternoon and bedtime .

However, I am not sure how much food I should offer or she should take. I am roughly giving 4 icecubes at each meal , momre at lunch, less at breakfast .... I think that DD would eat whatever I gave her without realising that she was full ... Should I use the jars and their vol as a benchmark ???

How much do you feed your older babies ???

HI cords
my ds2 is the same age and has 3 solids, most at breakfast- 3 big icecubes and then BF, then 2 icecubes at lunch and a BF later on then 2 or 3 at teatime and sometimes a quick BF then a nap and then 2.5 hours til the big nightime BF plus 3 more BFs before breakfast .
That's general although it can vary.
It sounds to me like you are doing the right thing for YOUR baby. It will soon be time to let them have finger food and that way they can self-regulate a bit more.
IMHO the jars are more for the manufacturer's convenience than baby tummy size

I am in awe of you for still managing to BF ! Have you started giving meat yet ?

The jars have water and fillers in so they are not as filling per volume as home made stuff. Or maybe I just make it really thick!

I cut out lunch bf at about this age too and offered water instead. Sometimes he needs it though. He's 13 months now, it's amazing how difficult it is to remember.

Toddlerbob ... how did you know when he did need the lunch milk or not ? I was told when they start eating meat then they may not need the milk at lunch.

By "needs it" I more mean emotionally, like he can't settle for his nap without it, or he has had a big morning, didn't sleep well the night before or something.

The meat and milk thing I don't really understand, but think it's something to do with iron absorption.

yes toddlerbob your right about iron absorbtion a baby absorbs 50% of iron found in breast milk where as only i think its 20% from meat and cords dont worry to much i thought my ds 7 months would eat anything put in front iif him but surpriseingly babys knows when there full if she still seems hungry try just offering her another cube and if she finishes all that on the next meal try ofering another cube on top of that until she starts leaving a bit in the bowl that way she can decide how much or little she wants at six months my ds was eating seven moth jars (when we were out) no problem
oh and there is filler in the jared baby food corn flour and water
