............can I use them like hens eggs?

Am thinking of having poached duck egg on toast.

yes

but they are bigger so need a bit longer cooking time, also very rich!

[am jealous and hungry now]

Yep - just the same just cook a little longer as they're bigger. They're delicious

They look almost too beautiful to eat - like a delicate piece of porcelain!

Thanks for the advice

if you have scrambled rather than poached you could blow them and keep the shells to decorate...

I cooked myself a duck egg once, and couldn't bring myself to eat it. When I was a small child I once asked my mother what duck eggs tasted like, she never having tasted one, told me that they taste of raw fish.

Well, I looked at this poached duck egg, lying on a slice of toast, my stomach flipped and her words came back to haunt me. Raw fish.

I still have no idea what they do taste like. Probably like eggs.

Oh I'm jealous too, Duck eggs are so much nicer!

colditz, duck eggs = sushi?

colditz · 13/09/2006 21:44

Lol funny thing is, I like sushi! I think her reasoning is that ducks drink pond water.... I talked a lot as a child, I think my mum switched off sometimes.
