Im doing my shopping online with asda at the moment and iv seen that they do whole plaice quite cheap off their fish counter.

My partner is picky with fish, he likes salmon, cod, haddock, and doesn't like anything too fishy. I love trying new things and although iv had plaice at a chippy, I don't know what to do with it!

Is it worth trying? Does anyone have any simple recipes for either?

Well, might be too late by now, but plaice is a nice, light fish. I'd simply squeeze some lemon or lime over it, salt, add some light herb - dill or marjoram or tarragon, dot with butter, wrap in foil and bung in the oven at 180C for about 10 mins (works well for ray/skate too).

Serve up with new potatoes and green beans/peas.

How would you prepare it, does it need skinning etc? it comes completely whole, head and all lol

This is my favourite quick fish dish.

I use frozen cod fillets, and cook them in the microwave but can also use fresh if you have them.

When cod is cooked, spread a big dollop of pesto on top, and then cover with a mix of half breadcrumbs and half grated parmesan. Pop under a hot grill for about 10 mins until its all warm and golden

Its yum Smile I usually have it with salad and cuscous.

I just put salt, pepper, olive oil and done garlic on salmon, grill it and serve it with a well dressed salad.

Whole eh? I never bother skinning, but you'd definitely want to remove the head and gut it (head removing is fine, gut removing less pleasant and not so easy with flat fish) - I usually cheat and get them to do it in the shop, but not sure they will for online. Is there a 'please gut before delivery' option? Grin)
