What can I do with elderberries?

Apparently the berries on the tree in front of my house are elderberries...Assuming they are, it'd be good to use them for something, but what?! All ideas gratefully received!

TIA

Try this

elderberry recipes

My brothers and I made elderberry wine when we were kids. It all exploded in the garage

I just made elderberry jelly! It is delicious on toast. I found a recipe on the internet. But it is basically berries plus pectin sugar (they sell in supermarkets ) ratio about 1:1 berries: sugar. YOu strip the berries fromm the stalks first. Boil away until it starts to set on a saucer in the fridge. Then strain it through a sieve (they say jelly bag but I could be arsed)

Another vote for wine! We made some and left it for 12 months instead of 6 and it was pretty good...more a sort of after dinner "here try this!" than a good 'slosh it down' one though . Involves sugar, raisins and vast amounts of sherry iirc!!
