Doing a informal dinner party on Friday. We have really good local ice cream and wondered if anyone could come up with a good simple recipe to serve up with icecream. Possibly something warm like brownies?

Brownies, fruit pie or crumble, fudge cake, treacle sponge? I'd go for something warm as I love hot puddings with ice cream

Alternatively make sundaes?

Some great ideas thanks ldt. Have you a recipe for fudge cake or brownies please?

What flavour is the ice cream?

cheeseandjam · 25/06/2014 10:38

They do lots of different flavours but I usually plump for the vanilla as goes with everything

Unfortunately I'm the wrong person to ask for recipes as I usually just google and pick at random. I'm sure someone will have one though!

Roasted fruits

Lunaballoon · 25/06/2014 13:55

Apricot tart such as this or Nigella's chocolate and pear pudding?

RonSwansonsLushMoustache · 25/06/2014 13:57

Summer pudding? I think it's best made in advance and chilled overnight.

Lunaballoon · 25/06/2014 14:00

Or this looks nice and easy.

Clutterbugsmum · 25/06/2014 14:35

Stewed summer friut. But then I don't like heavy puddings.

Chocolate fondants or sticky toffee pudding. Google the Nigel Slater one, that's what I always use

Rainydayblues · 25/06/2014 14:59

I'd go for something warm and crunchy. I like the hot cold/ creamy crunchy thing. So a freshly baked brownie with a crunchy top. Stewed pears with a gingerbread man. Shortcake with stewed raspberries. Treacle tart. Actually homemade biscuits and ice cream are my absolute favourite.

Warm gooseberry crumble?

JamNan · 25/06/2014 15:59

rhubarb crumble

this chocolate and orange marmalade cake is easy peasy. Recipe HERE

Caramelised fruit - chuck berries and nectarines into pan with equal amounts of butter and sugar, stir for a few minutes.

Anthony worrall thompsons brownies are the best (have tried and tested loads)

Alternatively what about making warm cookies and doing a posh ice cream sandwich?

Or some raspberries and strawberries stewed in Cointreau?
