Strawberry glut - I have reached peak strawberry

In the past five days I have picked 4kg of strawberries from my allotment! I can't keep up!

I will be turning 2kg into jam tonight (jars in the dishwasher as we speak) but know that there will be another 2kg to be picked in the next few days.

I made some agua fresca with them this morning but just two cups made a litre and I'm going to run out of room in the fridge.

What on earth can I do with them all?

Strawberry liquer? Strawberry ice cream? Or even just freeze them so they're ready to whack in desserts, drinks etc. the rest of the year round! Grin

I'd freeze them. I still had loads of last years raspberries in the freezer two, weeks ago and added them to some wine I was brewing and they made all the difference. Loverly.

Agree with freezing. That way they'd last ages.

deepbluetr · 12/06/2014 15:46

Give them away on freecycle? Sell them at the local shop?

Thanks for all the ideas. Jam is now made 9lbs of it!

I am planning on making:

Strawberry liquer
Strawberry cordial
Strawberry sorbet
Strawberry coulis ( I may freeze some)
More agua fresca (its quite Brazillian and may be a good thing to sip infront of world cup?)
Summer pudding (I found some abandoned blackcurrant bushes on allotment)
Strawberry pancakes (with said coulis)
Strawberry mousse or souffle if I can be arsed
Strawberry roll ups/fake sweets (again if I can be arsed)

And of course just eating them!

Do you think I could make a strawberry membrillo type thing, or would it never set?

Give them me I love strawberries.

Give them to your friends and neighbours, or swap them for some other fruit/veg you haven't got.
