Partially defrosted chicken

I took it out of the freezer yesterday and put in in the fridge but the damn thing is still quite frozen. It was reduced as going out of date.
Can I leave it out on coolish kitchen counter till this evening or should I keep in fridge for hours and hours until it Defrosts at the risk of it going off?

I always defrost meat and chicken at room temperature, or in the oven (ours is electric and has a defrost setting).

It would take days to defrost in our fridge.

Defrost setting on oven? Ooer I must check. Good idea.

I agree canus, nothing would defrost in my fridge!

I usually always leave frozen chicken out to defrost overnight, then just stick in the fridge until I'm ready to cook -

freewheelin I did this once, a friend of mine boils her chicken in stock first, I know she has done this before with a partially frozen one (because she told me to do it lol), it keeps it moist and defrosts thoroughly before she finishes off in a hot oven? It tasted great x

oops that sounds like a plan. Heat inside and out. Excellent.

freewheelin I made a soup out of the stock and left over chicken as well, I just put some diced carrots, onions and celery in with some salt and pepper, and a bit of tarragon (cos I luv tarragon :) ) -was luvly!!
