I have an American cookbook what could I substitute the following for please?

Jell-o vanilla instant pudding

Cool whip whipped topping

For the vanilla pudding I would use creme patisserie ( really simple recipe is 1 cup whole milk, scraped vanilla pod warmed, meanwhile whisk quarter cup sugar with three egg yolks til pale and fluffy and then add 3 tbsp plain flour, slowly pour over warm milk then add all back into saucepan and bring to a boil whisking constantly then carry on whisking for about 2 mins) or just but from Ocado
Cool Whip is a pretty vile (imho) artificial / long life whipped cream type topping, very sweetened and smooth. I would just use whipped cream, sweetened or unsweetened to your taste. Or squirty cream. Hth.
