Foolishly I arranged a dinner party from some dear friends, and then realised we have others staying over this weekend. The combined effect of the various dietary restrictions around the table is:
most crucially: no sulphites - which means virtually no ingredients from a jar or tin, no cured meat/ bacon/ chorizo, salami, sausage, no dried fruit, no bread (organic versions of some preserved food are ok), no cornflour, no wine or beer, no vinegar
no fish
no nuts
no milk (yoghurt is ok, and sheep's cheese)
no tomatoes,
v limited fibrous fruit or veg
I'm usually quite an adventurous cook, but I exhausted all my ideas for this lot last weekend (when I also had a coeliac in the mix!). I could just do a roast of some kind but I'd welcome other suggestions please. It's actually the tomatoes that I find hard to cook without...

Struggling! I think I'd probably end up doing a buffet (I know you said it's a dinner party but a sit-down buffet can still work) so that while there will still be things some people are not able to eat, there will be some things that each guest can, if you see what I mean.

Good luck!

Chicken with leek sauce made with sweated leeks and soya milk (alpro organic doesn't have added b-vitamins (usually made from yeast))
Boiled new potatoes with parsley.
Courgettes and cauliflower for veg perhaps.

Wow that's a tall order!

Roast chicken
Kushary and leave out the tomatoes and substitute lime juice for vinegar.

Sweet-potato dauphinoise using yoghurt and sheep's cheese.

Oven roasted vegetables.

steamed green leaves like Savoy cabbage, spinach or chard

You could make a 'sort-of salsa verde' and whizz up olive oil, basil, mint and parsley with garlic and lemon juice in place of a vinaigrette.

Have a look at the recipes on the Vegan Society website for ideas.

I did a starter of rocket / watercress salad with feta marinated in garlic and lemon juice, with pomegranate seeds, and toasted flaked almonds (for the nut eaters only). Leaves dressed in olive oil, then with the garlicky lemony feta stirred in. Main course: slow roast shoulder of lamb with merguez spices (a really good HFW recipe), sauteed fennel and new potatoes, mild spiced roast aubergines. Homemade chocolate tart and raspberry sorbet for pud. Then cheese (sheep's). And plenty of cocktails and wine!
Thanks for all your ideas :)
