Traffic Light Jelly for parties - how do you make it?

Just wondering how others make traffic light (or stripey) jelly for their DC's parties? Any suggestions on flavour combinations or containers gratefully received.

Use any tub or mould depending on what shape you want. Old ice cream tub maybe for a nice rectangle? Make up the green (lime, apple) jelly, pour it in and leave it to set. When its fully set make up the orange/yellow (orange, lemon) and pour it on top an dset and when that has fully set make up the red (strawberry) and add that. you'd probably have to make 2 or just make up half the pack of each colour though!

i did this for dds 2nd birthday and it was a big hit. I used clear plastic cups and popped the spoon in beore i did the jellies so the spoon was set in the jelly too. i did about 5 layers i think - used hartleys jelly, but the 'green' looked yellow-ish (as did the pineapple) and the 'purple' loked pink (as did the strawberry) so its hard to get lots of different colours.

It took about 2 days to wait for each colour to set before adding next. make sure you cool liquid jelly before adding to the cup or else it melts the one below it and the colours mix

I would use litle clear plastic cups as well.

pour a layer into the cups, leave for it to set ..as there is onoy a small amount it shouldnt take more than say 15 mins, then add the next layer.

just try and put red next to green next to pink next yellow...etc etc.

that way you can see the colours are all different.

also you can add things like fruit peices or little gum sweets in the middle whilst it sets.

I've got a huge craving for red jelly and icecream after reading this, lol.

There?s another good Jelly trick that I use if you?re interested ? always a big hit.

Get half a dozen or so medium Oranges. (or more if doing for loads of kids)
Cut them in half
Scoop out all the flesh
Pop in food blender and blitz until all the larger chunks have gone.
Pour liquid through sieve
Add to Jelly as part of the cold water volume
Pour into Orange peel halves
Leave to set.

I find a Yorkshire Pudding tin good for holding the oranges.
A Pint mix usually does about 6 halves. So, for multi choice use only half the jelly for each flavour or put excess into ramekin pots for smaller children who can?t handle the orange pieces?

Once set, cut the oranges into quarters and serve? Yum..

No washing up to do after either - always a bonus for me

My mum used to do a fab jelly and yoghurt combo that kept us guessing for ages how she did it.

She made jelly in glasses, but put it to set at an angle in the fridge (wooden spoon under one edge. When the jelly was set, she poured yoghurt in the other side. It looked fab!!!!!!

hmm, when I said 'it takes 2 days' I meant it takes two days in total to do all the layers, not two days to set each layer...or was that obvious? dur!

Mmmmm littlefish, like that idea too.
