Please can you help me choose a first course?

I'll be taking it to a friends house for a girlie night in.
Main course will be fish, possibly cod with cheese and avocado, maybe salmon. Hostess hasn't decided yet.

Any thoughts for an easily transportable, ideally totally pre prepared first course please?
Time isn't an issue but my skill level is fairly low! I'm cooking for 6.

Many thanks in advance.

My friends and I have a supper night once a month and we do a course each too. Makes it a cheap, fun night!

Starters could be:

Soup. French onion and cider my favourite
Salad (orange, feta and rocket or griddled peach and proscittio, loads online)
Prawn Cocktail
Stuffed Mushrooms
Smoked Salmon
Pate (v easy to make if you've a food processor) and french bread

Or just buy a selection of mezze/tapas dishes and get a french stick : - )

Cocktails and blinis go down well too : - ))

Have fun.

Thanks SP. The orange, feta and rocket salad sounds delicious. 3 of my favourite things.

Hostess is doing salad with the fish for the main course.
Back to the drawing board.

Thanks dancingqueen. That will work. And I have some home made tomato and chilli chutney that I can serve with them instead of making the marmalade.
