Best cold bring-a dish for travelling with?

For taking to be eaten on the first night of our holiday - other families will be bringing stuff too.

I was thinking maybe a cheese and onion pie or quiche?

Any thoughts? any ideas for a side dish other than salad? I'd like to do literally no prep when we get there after a few hours in the car, not even the slicing of tomatoes Smile

A quiche is always a winner - maybe make it with funky pastry for a change, pesto pastry or cheesy pastry? Could have cous cous as a side dish instead of salad, or maybe quinoa or bulgar wheat if you're an adventurous bunch! Or some home-made coleslaw, if you have somewhere relatively cool to keep it?

Could also take some cold meat - BBQ or Tandoori chicken drumsticks are lovely cold.
