Kid friendly haddock recipe?

MellowYellowWag · 28/04/2014 13:20

I'm trying to cut down the amount of red meat the children eat & have bought some haddock for tonight. But now I don't know what to do with it apart from coating it in breadcrumbs or making fish pie. Does anyone have a good recipe please?

I've made this a couple of times... its really tasty

And I know yours isn't smoked, but for future reference I made this for the first time at the weekend (trying to cook more fish as well!) and it went down really well with DH and dd (2).

Cullen Skink. Might be more kid friendly with your unsmoked haddock.

teenage think I may be trying the zesty haddock myself this week Smile

I make macaroni cheese with haddock, works really well. That said, my child will eat anything so generally don't have to worry about being child-friendly.

I'd second chowder too, another favourite of my 5 year old.

Haddock coated on crushed cornflakes rather than bread crumbs is lovely

Fried in butter and topped with a fresh cherry tomato sauce. Add some capers for the adults. Works well with broccoli and salad potatoes.

Yum! Thanks for the replies, I'm going to try most of them - starting with Teenage's zesty haddock & then Cullen skink. Never made chowder so that's a good one too

I know you've had you dinner now but for next time, Kedgeree. Had it tonight and it was lovely!

If unsmoked you can sub it for anything using cod. What about fishcakes? You can cut down on the potato by adding some cooked mashed broccoli and/or cauliflower.

Also you don't need a breadcrumb coating, just dip in egg and then flour.
