I do a rough weekly menu on a Sunday and then DH goes to the supermarket.

Monday - swimming night so take away on the way home for kids (McD's or Pizza or Sushi). DH and I usually have a home made curry made from Sunday's left over roast.
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday - home cooked meals usually any of the following: Casserole, Spag Bol, Shepherd's Pie, Fish Pie, Tuna or Bacon Pasta, Grilled chicken breasts/lamb chops/pork chops with couscous or salad or potatoes and veg.
Friday - Convenience food night - fish fingers and oven chips or sausages and oven chips or something like that. DH and I either have something lovely like steak or we have a take away.
Saturday - anything I can find in the freezer, left overs, or whatever DH feels like cooking.
Sunday - A roast of some kind (usually)

I have to do it this way ... goes against my nature but it keeps food bills down if I shop to a menu and keeps me organised.

I have about 10 typed up menu plans which cover 6 days each, the 7th day is either a new recipe or takeout or whatever. This week: (in brackets changes depending on what is in season etc)

  1. Omelette,(with salad and foccacia)
  2. Chilli con carne (on nacho chips with salad)
  3. HM Pie (Leek and onion with roast veges)
  4. Meatballs (on rice with corn on cob and baby beans)
  5. Green curry (vege on rice)
  6. Soup (mushroom with salad and relish and cheese buns)
  7. Free (eggs and beans on toast as will be late home tonight and will need something easy to prep) I also have a base set of ingredients that I try to keep in the store cupboard for lunches, side dishes, extra guests, baking, day to day needs eg cleaning etc...
