Did a yummy gammon + coke in the slow cooker last night. Going to have with baked potatoes & cauliflower cheese later. Interested in hearing what others do with theirs....

I really don't like gammon in coke, it tastes revolting to me

I just cover it in boiling water in the SC or recently I have been covering it in foil and roasting it. It's sweet enough without any additional sugar imo.

Mmmm cauliflower cheese, Ive not made that for a while….

How long does this take in the slow cooker? Say a small 1/2lb one?

jimijack · 25/04/2014 15:54

We have it with roasties & veg.

I just bung it on low a day, don't time it tbh

we tend to do roasties or wedgey chips, peas/sweetcorn. dh never really moved on from being nine as far as veg goes

If dh is not here, then parsley sauce for the gammon and cabbage, maybe mash or a baked tattie. Or cauli cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese.

Have also shredded it pulled pork stylee, and then with a BBQ sauce it is great in rolls with salad, or if not too saucey then use it to make fajitas with sliced peppers, soured cream and tortillas

Or if you're down to the last slice or two then chop it and layer it among the cauliflower before adding the cheese sauce.

Yum! Had it with mac cheese one day. Jacket spud another & then in Croque Monsiuers...scrummy! Takes about 5/6 hours on high in my SC, then falls apart. Seriously tender meat. Thx for all the suggestions. Aim to try the pulled pork method as we love this with pork...

We shred ours and have with mashed potato and green veg usually.

Add to soup! Lovely in all veggie soups, not just pea or bean ones.

I love using the boiling water to make Lentil and Barley soup and then shredding the ham back in. Serious comfort food!
