How long do coconuts keep for?

I want to get one for DH instead of an Easter Egg but I don't know whether if I but it now it will still be OK in a weeks time

Lasts for weeks, great fun making the hole for the milk to be poured and then smashing it up with a small hammer. Reminds me of holidays when the locals walk along the beach selling coconuts and pineapple, nowhere else would you be able to carry a machete like knife and get away with it.
