Meant to buy condensed milk to make coconut ice but stupidly picked up evaporated milk. What shall I do with it please?

ineedsomeinspiration · 09/04/2014 21:14

I've never done it but seen it mentioned on here. I'd google for instructions

Flibbertyjibbet · 09/04/2014 21:25

Make a jelly, chill the milk, whisk it, serve with jelly.

My favourite pudding from childhood.

MrsDavidBowie · 09/04/2014 21:26

I would just pour it on a spoon and drink it. (Northern childhood)

lavenderhoney · 09/04/2014 21:31

Put it in tea? My dm used to drink it with tea instead of milk.

Aren't you supposed to have it with tinned peaches etc?

ineedsomeinspiration · 09/04/2014 21:49

Yes says on the tin to serve with fruit as one of your 5 a day Hmm.
Not sure if I'd like it in my tea, I like builders tea with only a splash of milk.
If only ds was at school could donate it for the tombola (do they still do that)?

Jelly Fluff sounds fun, think I may have a go at that. DH will probably think I've gone a bit bonkers.

Rice pudding? My mum makes a lush one with evaporated milk

ineedsomeinspiration · 09/04/2014 22:21

Oh yes rice pud would be nice. Got some pudding rice in the cupboard.

Northern childhood here too-fond memories of peaches and evap.

We make milk jelly by using evap instead of half the water.

I love evap in filter coffee.

OwlCapone · 10/04/2014 13:20

LOL.

We used to whisk it into a half made jelly too. For reasons I really don't understand, it was known as Womble Jelly in our house.

MrsDavidBowie · 10/04/2014 15:21

Peaches and evap...yes we had that Sunday tea after tinned salmon sandwiches.

mrspremise · 11/04/2014 16:14

Gypsy Tart! Whip evap with brown sugar, pour into baked sweet pastry case, bake until puffy. Smile

neversleepagain · 11/04/2014 20:16

I drink it in coffee instead of milk. It is very common in Greece to do this.

sittingatmydeskagain · 11/04/2014 20:32

Tinned peaches and Carnation - one of my favourite puddings ever. And a sneaky spoon straight from the tin.

CointreauVersial · 12/04/2014 21:49

Ooh, I love evaporated milk. Just use it as a cream substitute, on strawberries, apple pie etc. I could also just eat it off a spoon.
