Shortcrust Pastry Mix Question!!

have a packet of Sainsbury`s shortcrust pastry mix which says just add water for perfect pastry!
My question is, what if I added milk instead??!! Would it ruin the pastry or would it make it richer/more tasty??!!

Wouldn't do milk, I don't think it would make much of a difference, it's such a tiny amount - I would do egg though.

I don't think I would suggest milk either, it might make it difficult to roll, best stick to the water. But depending on whether I'm making sweet short rust or savoury I have added different things to pastry to give it an extra dimension. For sweet pastry I have added a bit of caster sugar, for savoury I have added a bit of mustard or herbs.

Thanks!!
It`s actually for mince pies!!Grin
Will stick to water I think & add a sprinkling of sugar on top!!

Probably too late now, but my mother adds Orange zest when making pastry for mince pies.
