Dh has asked me to provide cupcakes for a bake sale at work! I've done them!

Was wondering does anyone have a alternative topping rather than just plain icing/water or buttercream?

Thanks in Advance

Chocolate ganache maybe? if you leave it to cool it thickens up enough to pipe.

Will look for. Easy ganache :-)

I am not a fan of cake or icing, but I did have some cupcakes that had a crispy meringue topping, not so sickly sweet as icing or buttercream.

You can dip them in melted chocolate. Yum.

If you are time limited you could try this.

Normal vanilla cupcakes. Take out the core and fill it with carnation caramel (you can buy it in a tin). Then vanilla buttercream and crumble (or small cubes) of fudge on top.

Minimal effort but they look and taste lovely.

Oops, so good I posted twice. Sorry

Cream cheese frosting, Italian meringue buttercream or ganache. You need to be careful with the ganache & cream cheese though cos they can only be kept out of a fridge for a few hours.

ooh i have to make a million bloody cakes this afternoon so I'm definitely using the carnation caramel idea. Thanks uggmum

I made the ganache and put white chocolate on top! Just doing a
Victoria sponge and will add cream and jam to that later
