Black Forest Gateau / Cake / Roulade - best recipes and tips please

DP has requested a black forest something for his birthday cake next weekend.
I haven't baked anything black foresty before so would be very grateful for any recommendations / tips.

I make this I've done it with raspberries and I've also done it black forest stylee with cherries in kirch, both ways is delicious - it's also easier than it might first look
