party cake alternative for a dairy allergic child?

I have a child coming to DS birthday who is dairy allergic, I'm afraid my birthday cake, complete with lashings of buttercream, is not dairy free.
Any ideas for a treat I can get in place of cake?
I was thinking of a bag of fox's party rings which seem OK.
Or maybe just some sugary sweets?

Can you not makes some dairy free cup cakes if you bake?
Dairy free is bloody simple and other kids will eat them without realising.

Or tell the mum so she can chose to bring something. Foxes party rings are biscuits arn't they?

Or tesco do gfcf cupcakes.

I have a vegan cake recipe which is fab if you want it. It's chocolate cake (using cocoa powder so no milk to worry about), it's a lovely cake, makes good cupcakes and freezes well. I use it for ds2 who has an egg allergy.

Dairy free is easy peasy, just use a dairy free margarine instead of butter, it would work fine for your normal cake, or you could make a small tray of fairy cakes instead. I really don't think any small child would notice the difference in cake or buttercream icing though, it will taste much the same, so I would just do the whole cake with it.

I thought fox's party rings had butter in, but maybe the recipe has changed. Not as nice as cake though, anyway.

I've already made the cake at the weekend and froze it, and don't really have time to do any more baking (I appreciate they might be easy but I have to do all my prep during DDs one hour nap each day).
Bugger, I should have done dairy free in the first place. Or just bought the cake so I had more time.

You can buy dairy free muffin or brownie mix and just replace the butter with either dairy free margarine or (I prefer this) olive oil. The Hale and Hearty mix is good (use 170ml oil instead or 200gm butter).
