De vein the prawns or not ?

I go to billingsgate To get fresh prawns

I then spend a couple hours de veining and freezing into portions

I go with my friend . He's Sri Lanka. He doesn't de vein , however , I have always been under the belief that you ( collective you ) de vein

I am watching Rick Stein and he DIDN'T de vein the fresh prawns
Am I spending my very short life doing it unnessacerily ???

( I used to peel mushrooms until I realised there was no need)

Do you de vein ??

I do as i always have done. in restaurants I take it out if it hasn't been done by them. i was taught that you should.

I always thought the vein was full of prawn poo, and I don't want to eat that.
