Do you have a no, never food?

PetiteRaleuse · 01/02/2014 22:59

Mine is tongue. Once mistakenly ate a salad with what looked like raw furry bacon bits in it. Was gross. Learned it was cow tongue afterwards.

Other no, never stuff: oysters. Ugh. Did it once, tasted like cold semen.

Snake. I will never knowingly eat snake.

Milk. I refuse to drink milk. Hate it.

Anyone else got no, never, foods or drinks?

This is like a list of my favourite food!

I can't bear bananas that are even slightly ripe. they must be yellowy green. any speckle of brown renders them unpalatable.

I like most things. hard to think of things I don't like.

Don't fancy the idea of sushi. not tried much of it but I wasn't impressed.

ApplesinmyPocket · 03/02/2014 10:23

Looks like not a single other person on this thread has mentioned one of my most hated foods - GARLIC!

From its popularity I can only assume everyone is tasting something different to me - it reeks and tastes foul - like something Nature is warning me never, ever to put in my mouth! Grin Why, WHY does everyone love it so much?

Apart from garlic (which is pretty difficult to avoid) I'll eat most things, but dislike:

goat's cheese
sprouts, cabbage and cauliflower
English mustard.

ouryve · 03/02/2014 10:27

Raw celery.

AmberLeaf · 03/02/2014 10:32

Yes English mustard is horrible.

stickysausages · 03/02/2014 10:37

I love so many things on here too! Grin Celery, mustard etc. Can't stand green bananas, so slimy!

Love garlic, forgot about olives though... yeurgh! Satan's snot!!

I will eat most vegetable things but there is no way I would ever eat brain, tripe, kidney, liver, heart, testicles etc. nor would I eat animals that really shouldn't be eaten; snake, kangaroo, camel or anything else like that.

I wont eat veal or any other baby animal either - that is just wrong!

TheNunsOfGavarone · 03/02/2014 12:01

Baked beans
Salad cream
Soft boiled egg

Anything with "spread" on it, particularly if it's been described as butter

Oysters - never to be forgotten allergic reaction

Noxious chicken takeaways of the sort school kiddies eat on buses - the number of journeys I've had to spend breathing through my mouth or delay by jumping off the bus altogether!

smoothieooo · 03/02/2014 12:40

Beetroot

That's about the only thing I won't eat. Have had frogs legs, snails, oysters, ostrich, kangaroo, horse, haggis etc etc but beetroot is the only thing I can safely say I will never, ever eat.

happyglamper · 03/02/2014 13:02

Crab - I would die.

Peppers - every meal out is a challenge to find a veggie dish that doesn't involve the overuse of these hideous items, likewise celery
Olives - just uneccessary
On the other hand if I could only have one type of food ever again it would have to be the wonder that is Beetroot Grin

oscarwilde · 03/02/2014 13:15

Bananas are vile. Biggest downside of having children is having the things in the house.
Raw celery. Bleurch
Instant coffee - gives me horrible stomach pains.
Cheap meat, it's just not worth it.
Jellied eel was pretty horrid, more the texture than the taste
Those weird salt covered sweets from Scandinavia
I saw lung on sale in a meat market once. No idea what animal it originated from. Will try most things at least once but that looked foul.

Deathwatchbeetle · 03/02/2014 13:31

Any meat
Any fish/Shellfish etc
Parsnips, turnips and swede
Tapioca (as a milk pud but I like the pearl or is it seed tapioca desserts in Thai restaurants!)
Kohlrabi
Not fond of chard either.
Hate Bourbon biscuits with a passion

Cheese and onion sandwiches with loads of mayo - just soggy and they put Red Leicester in it. Don't hate RL but it is the inevitable sogginess -of the sandwich and I now associate RL with sogginess.

Not fond of raw celery but cooked is foul (lived on the blasted soup diet for a while - tasted of celery.

Fake strawberry anything -(milkshake/ice cream/jam/yoghurt) Urgh

Skin on hot milk/custard - Very wrong!

JulesJules · 03/02/2014 14:22

Meat and fish (vegetarian)

Mushrooms - the devil's spawn. Just wrong. (It's pretty hard being a vegetarian who won't eat mushrooms. Often the only veggie option is mushroom something)

And since the first time I was pregnant I can't eat mashed potato, used to love it, now I just throw up if I eat it. Also no red wine or non-sparkly white wine. Tastes like mouldy old vinegar. Used to love a bottle glass or two of Rioja. Those kids have got a lot to answer for.

MistressDeeCee · 03/02/2014 14:24

Tripe
Game
Ravioli
Cockles, Mussels, Shrimps, eels etc
Oysters
Hot Dog sausages
Snails
Cucumber
Mushy Peas
Carrots

JulesJules · 03/02/2014 14:25

I'm not very keen on eggs either. OK if in something, cooked to destruction, but no wobbly runny bits

bluesbaby · 03/02/2014 14:29

Shellfish, mainly oysters, prawns, mussels (I have tried the latter two and didn't like them)
Sashimi (tried it and hated it)
Haggis
Offal (more the thought of it that puts me off)
Black pudding
Ham, spam, corned beef, beef jerky, ... pretty much any processed meat with the exception of bacon (for my other half - otherwise I would never touch it. I don't do bacon sandwiches.) and pancetta (as seasonings)
Goose (I have tried it and didn't like it)
Egg yolk (with the exception of chocolate cake in which I cannot taste it)
Pie crust (hate pastry and taste of eggs)
Chicken nuggets (just the idea of them makes me feel ill)
Not keen on roast beef or roast pork
Sausage rolls (bad combo of pastry and bad sausages)
Anchovies
Trifle
Kimchee
Gaz
Faloodeh
Baklava
Noghl
Halvardeh
All cakes with the exception of coffee, carrot, walnut and chocolate cake
All pastries with the exception of croissants and chocolate danish
Pate
Smoked salmon
Turkey
Rat
Dog, cat
Spiders

Placenta :D

wouldlovetohelpyouall · 03/02/2014 14:40

Beeftongue
brain
onion pickle
egg pickle
cheese with fruits in it
pork belly
baked beans
anything pickled apart from beetroot
christmas pudding
cranberry sauce
mint sauce
seafood apart from mussels

forpitysake · 03/02/2014 15:24

Mushrooms. Vile things. Would love to be vegetarian but really struggle to find stuff without them in if eating out. Rubbery. Grey. Look gross. Taste disgusting. Just the look of those fanned bits underneath turns my stomach like you wouldn't believe. Nasty nasty nasty
Shudder

forpitysake · 03/02/2014 15:25

Oh yes. And anchovies. And anything that used to live I'm a shell. And octopus/squid/mussels/oysters etc
Yuk yuk yuk

forpitysake · 03/02/2014 15:27

Not a garlic fan either so if I was given mushroom and seafood in garlic sauce I would likely vomit. Can't think of anything worse

Boadiccea · 03/02/2014 15:27

Woa mind my ignorance. But people eat chicken feet?? How? In sauce? Sauteed? Oh em gee

I will not eat a banana with a brown mark on it, must be perfectly ripe almost green.

Once was offered tongue and couldn't attempt to eat it, I mean it did just look like a tongue, fury n all.

Meow75 · 03/02/2014 15:32

Peas - Satan's testicles, although I can do mushy peas with fish and chips from the chippy
Celery or rhubarb
tripe, cockles, whelks, snails, oysters. I did recently take on mussels - they're ok, but don't really like chewing them.

Badgerwife · 03/02/2014 15:37

egg and cress sandwiches - that's asking for food poisoning - which I did, twice, from eating an egg sandwich from a hospital shop. Never. Again.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 03/02/2014 15:39

I'm surprised that so many people have been served tongue with the furry skin still on it - no wonder you were put off.
Grin @ peas as Satan's testicles.

ISBN1966 · 03/02/2014 17:20

It slightly worries me that I can't think of a food I wouldn't eat.

Oh hang on - Fray Bentos pies. In fact any pies or tinned meat you can buy in Poundland
