fry onion till soft .. add a couple of cloves of garlic
add about 3 carrots sliced (some celery if you have) .. any other root veg / mushrooms etc
add a tin tomatoes (2 dependent on quantity, some veg stock and some tomato puree
add chilli plus about 2 tbsp cumin, bay leaf add kidney beans and simmer for about 30 mins and taste
that's how I'd do it anyway although its not a proper recipe you understand
