Flapjack question

I'm about to make the flapjack recipe with condensed milk but don't have golden syrup. Can I replace with honey? Or mrs Butterworth's American syrup?

Is the 'American syrup' CORN syrup? If so, that would make an acceptable substitute for golden syrup...
