Flat meat! (lamb I think)

My son has just started his second term in reception and I quiz him about what he's had for lunch (school dinners), mostly he says he can't remember but he often has a stamp for 'good eating' so I was interested to know what they were giving him that he liked so much. He told me what he liked best was 'flat meat' - sounded a bit dubious but I've checked the school website and decided it's roast lamb. We recently went to a pub for lunch and tried to give him a bit of the lamb, but he said it wasn't flat enough! Anyone know how I can get it really flat?! Is it just a matter of good knife technique??

It's almost certainly a cooked joint of meat, allowed to cool and then sliced super-thin on an electric slicer (like ham at a deli). It will then be reheated and possibly have gravy added. I work in a school, it's bloody tasty, actually... Wink

Yes he loves it - always telling me. Thanks for this insider knowledge. I will just have to get good at slicing then...
