You can't I don't think, you just have to wait. I guess a windowsill might help it on its way in this weather.

BoilingHotFrayedKnot · 29/07/2006 20:28

I think it sounds like a mango.

Oh, you mean an avocado!

Put it on a sunny windowsill and wait, I'm afraid.

WideWebWitch · 29/07/2006 20:28

Don't keep it in the fridge, that'll help. Again, not a lot you can do except wait!

schnapps · 29/07/2006 20:30

Advocado, that's it! I wil put it on the windowsill and wait. Shall I out it oi

if it's a green mango, you've got a long time to wait

What about putting it in a paper bag with a banana? I thought bananas were supposed to give off something that makes other fruit ripen quickly, hence the "need" for banana hooks.

Blandmum · 29/07/2006 20:47

in a plastic bag with a banana.

The banana releaces ethene, a natural gas which acts as a plant hormone that makes fruit ripen.

Will work on all fruit

schnapps · 29/07/2006 20:48

oooo, I have bananas, wil go do that! Thanks

Didn't know that, I'll have to seperate my bananas from the other fruit then!

aitch71 · 29/07/2006 20:52

that's why lakeland limited sell those wacky metal banana hanger things, to keep them separate from the other fruits.
