It's such a great place. Everyone is clearly enjoying themselves.

Was there liquid nitrogen?

The only thing I really didn't like was the salt I ate from under the oyster, which wasn't for eating, it turned out. Oh, I didn't like the oyster much, but then I don't like oysters.

Afterwards, I had a hard time eating anything else, as it seemed sacreligious to just chuck regular food down my throat after having that.

Do you know, I had to talk HC through the whole "willy" thing this week. She told my ds to point his penis in the potty and he was completely mystified (so much so that he pissed all over the floor as a result)

I counselled her sensitively through her first use of the word "willy". I found it very ironic seeing as we first bonded on one of those "don't say lulu say vulva" threads

FrannyandZooey · 28/07/2006 21:56

NQC remind me never to stick my tongue in your mouth. No, I am just not doing it. I SAID NO

FanjoFanjoWhosGotTheFanjo · 28/07/2006 21:56

Yeah, willy is a fine word. It's not "flower" or "lulu" or whatever. Everybody knows what it means.

I think DS1 knows the word "penis" too. I should probably check.

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 28/07/2006 21:57

yes - there was liquid nitrogen - liked that a lot too

LOLOLOL at fanjo name

sorry we are being idiotic all over your nice snail porridge thread, hat

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 28/07/2006 21:58

Ok. Are you likely to need reminding?

God, we have the teenagers coming tomorrow.

a) ok the other bathroom is probably working but bits of the floor are plywood.

b) DS1 expects them to have skateboards, as that's what teenagers have.

c) I think the bloke expects a lot of meat. Or eats a lot of meat. I did buy some lamb, but I'm not going to go all carnivorous for a guest who can't be bothered answering my "what do you eat email". (Carnivore rumours come via his sister.)

d) their rooms are each furnished with: a bed. I lie, one has a chair, the other has a big table and a lot of lego.

FanjoandZooey · 28/07/2006 21:59

Let them eat snail porridge. And cake.

Mercy · 28/07/2006 22:00

Was it very expensive?

Beauregard · 28/07/2006 22:00

Disgusting you freak

FanjoFanjoWhosGotTheFanjo · 28/07/2006 22:01

Oh, I am contemplating making a courgette cake. And I'll go to Borough Market tomorrow morning to source more food.

And I might make merengues. And maybe some praline semi-freddo?

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 28/07/2006 22:06

mercy - hideously. dh is quite a foodie - it's one area of his life where he spends

OP posts:
FanjoFanjoWhosGotTheFanjo · 28/07/2006 22:08

Hmmm, I didn't think it was outrageously expensive. I mean, it's not much more expensive than, say, Club Gascon or similar, and it is rather a lot better.

They could double the prices and probably still be full all the time.

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 28/07/2006 22:16

depends whether you mean "expensive" in an objective-value-for-money sense. in which case I would agree - it's not. or whether you mean it in an i'm-aware-that-i-just-spent-on-lunch-more-than-some-people-have-to-spend-on-food-in-a-month-type-way, in which case I do feel a bit strange about the whole thing.

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 28/07/2006 22:20

Oh, yes, by rational measures, it is expensive. But I thought it was good value for money, nonetheless.

Apparently there are lots of El Bulli style places in NYC.

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 28/07/2006 22:24

have you been to el bulli?

OP posts:
FanjoFanjoWhosGotTheFanjo · 28/07/2006 22:33

No, I probably should.

It's a total nightmare to get a table, same as Fat Duck.
