I remember this being discussed before but I can't remember the outcome. I think it was that you had to buy it in a health food shop but my brian is addled so that's not much help is it? I'll see if I can find some on a google search though.

Sainsburys used to do unsalted fresh stocks, however I have a nasty feeling that they stopped doing it You can get low salt stock cubes from the supermarket, I believe - not ideal but better than the "normal" varieties.

If it is to be used just for a baby then Boots do do a 4 month plus baby gravy which you just add water to - bit yucky if your friend was hoping to just do one load of food for the whole family to eat! I think it was by cow & gate. Also Waitrose i think do an unsalted stock in the refridgerated department.

Well it looks like she might have to make it, based on my quick search anyway. There were low salt versions but not no salt. I know that Marigold Vegan Bouillon Powder is particularly salty, I used it at a friend's house recently and was shocked at how salty it tasted compared to my Kallo organic cubes. God I'm boring so I'll stop now!

Marigold does one which is reduced in salt.... and Kallo I think does an organic unsalted...

prufrock · 04/03/2004 12:58

Marigol reduced salt veg stock granules has 0.18% salt when made up according to inxs

pupuce · 04/03/2004 12:59

Kallo is also does a low salt one... just found on the web
