I'm planning to make a lasagne with the left over tomato sauce...how long would you leave keep a basic tomato pasta sauce refrigerated for?

I'd (thinly!) cover the top surface with oil to exclude air completely and I would then happily keep it for at least one week.

I leave half-bottles of passata in the fridge for a week or more. I only wouldn't use it if it had mould on top but you have to leave it for ages for that to happen.(Will try to remember the oil tip above.)

until it goes mouldy- up to a week should be fine.

Thanks for the replies Smile

I'd made the sauce last Saturday, turned it into lasagne yesterday and 5 children demolished it and declared it delicious!! Phew!!
