Cash & carry - Makro, that kind of thing? Does anyone you know have a card for those kind of lpaces?

neena28 · 27/07/2006 14:29

Makro or quarter of something on line (can't remember the name, will look it up). Think quarter are quite expensive though and Makro would be loads cheaper for bulk stuff.

Carmenere · 27/07/2006 14:29

A wholesalers, do you have a friend who has any kind of business as they will usually have a card for one of these places like Macro.

sidey · 27/07/2006 14:32

I wonder if I can get on Makro online?

I want to come to your wedding

Tommy · 27/07/2006 14:51

we had tins of mini hereos and celebrations at ours
It was just after Easter so we bought them all on offer in Woolworths.
You could try Cadbury's but agree that probably would be cheaper at Makro.
Have fun - sounds great

Tommy · 27/07/2006 14:51

that would be heroes of course....

sidey · 27/07/2006 14:53

just looked at makro website, doesn't look if as if you can order online

Just found this...not sure about the prices though but if you contacted them they might be prepared to reduce for a bulk order.

sweets and chocs

neena28 · 27/07/2006 14:56

Ohhh I love the idea of little mini packs of Love Hearts at a wedding. We have a shop that sells designer childrens shoes round here and all their display cabinets are clear perspex filled with sweets, looks fab.

Sparkler1 · 27/07/2006 14:56

chocoholics are good but not sure if it's what you are looking for.

sidey · 27/07/2006 15:01

thanks, just looked at sweets and choc site. I now need to decide on how much I am going to need. The bowls are round - like fish bowls

OP posts:
sidey · 27/07/2006 15:03

don't know how i will do that - looks like buying some first and filling them up to decide how much - and then eat them after!!

Stick to lots of about three types rather than little quantities of lots of different things.

What is your colour theme and your and dp's favs?

sidey · 27/07/2006 15:09

The theme of wedding is choc and sweets, my cake is lilac iced with marshmallows coming down the side. The colours are lilac. We mostly like any chocolate - and would need to fill 6 of these bowls - so I thought maltesers, marshmallows, love hearts, - but i am going to need a lot

Could you pour water into the bowls then measure it out...I bet if you call one of the companys they could tell you how much space say a 100 grams takes up of any sweet.

Think you need someone with the job of getting the wrappers out the way or provide somewhere obvious for poeple to put them or tables/bowls will look really untidy very quickly.

Marshmallows and love hearts sound fab, maltesers might just melt into one big lump if they get warm though?

Sorry can you tell I would love to be a party planner!?

sidey · 27/07/2006 15:20

good idea neena - like your style. You should take it up as a job

I ordered trays of thorntons for our wedding, best decision we made.

sidey · 27/07/2006 15:23

There r 4 tables and then the top table. As we are choc a holics I am going to put only 2 bowls of choc for top table. The 4 tables I think will have sweets in them just in case they do melt. The wedding is in 4 weeks so if the weather is still like this as neena says choc won't last long

OP posts:
sidey · 27/07/2006 15:23

I bet they weren't cheap flutterbee

flutterbee · 27/07/2006 15:26

not too bad actualy, have a look on their website, I think it was about £30 for a tray of about 70 choccies, we had 4 trays and then a few boxes of marks and sparks choccie bics and put them out on the tables for everyone to dive into, kept them going until the food was opened in the evening

sidey · 27/07/2006 15:27

good idea I will have a look at that as well - thank you all for your wonderful ideas

katzg · 27/07/2006 15:29

have you tried hotel chocolate, they often have a clearance, end of session selection where you can get yummy chocs at a fraction of their original price

sidey · 27/07/2006 15:35

is that a website katzg?
