How to cook lamb shanks?

I am hosting a dinner for 8 adults. I'm planning on cooking lamb shanks. I would like to cook them in my le creuseut dish on the hob rather than in the oven( the temperature in my oven is very unreliable). Any ideas for other ingredients and also how long would you slow cook 8 lamb shanks for?

Jamie Oliver has a nice garlicky/buttery recipe here where the shanks are baked in foil parcels. I think, in a large le Creuset on a very low light, you could add just a small amount of liquid to the bottom of the dish, pop on the lid, and they would braise in the foil rather than bake

I'd bung them in the sc.

On the hob, stand them up in the dish, add some stock (a couple of inches upp the shanks), tie a sprig of rosemary to each and simmer for as long as possible.

Madha jafrey does a really nice recipe where you cook them in yogurt and some spices and is really nice.

We have also used it for cooking a whole leg but it is a shank recipe.

On phone so don't know how to copy link but it will come up if you google - think it was on bbc food.

Just checked, Madhur cooked them on Saturday kitchen so they are on the bbc food website. It does say oven cook but I'm sure if you kept it covered on low it would be ok.

There's a recipe on the bbc good food website for Vietnamese lamb shanks which is delicious and reheats well so you can do it in advance.

This is the best recipe for Lamb Shanks (on my opinion!). I've done it loads of times at dinner parties and it's always gone down well. domesticgoddessonlplates.blogspot.co.uk/2009/06/jamie-olivers-spiced-lamb-shanks.html?m=1
