I am pregnant and all I can think about is lentils Confused
I am a lentil novice though and not really sure where to start with them, so does anyone have any good recipes for them? The healthier the better as DP is dieting and we're struggling to eat the same meals. Cheers :)

I think I would like other pulses too to be honest. I keep being drawn to the healthy section of the shop and drooling over chickpeas and lentils Confused

Thanks for all of these, I'll probably give most of them a go.
I made something delicious tonight for tea but just winged it, it was bloody delicious though!

Oops, I'm the OP by the way! Got bored of the other name.

Kiwi, I have a batch of chickpea's soaking as I type Wink

Ooh yes lentils are brilliant in moussaka.

Ok: If we're doing other pulses, this is my absolute favorite.

Spanish Chirozo and fish stew:

Fry some Chirozo sausage with chopped spring onions
Pour over a tin of cannolini beans and some stock
Place a fillet of white fish on top and some cherry tomatoes if liked
When stock has reduced and fish has cooked, add the juice from 1/2 lemon or lime then serve with crusty bread.

Some more lentil ideas:

Hugh FW's rocket, fennel and puy lentil salad

Another lentil spag bol. If you make it with low salt stock, it's also a good weaning food, when you get to that stage!

Finally, carrot, lentil and coriander soup: add 100g red lentils and an extra 250ml stock to your favourite carrot and coriander soup recipe - not sure that really qualifies as a recipe!

I like making butternut squash and lentil salad, like this one www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1755649/warm-roasted-squash-and-puy-lentil-salad

Thanks for this thread. I usually love lentils but have really gone off the thought of them since being pregnant, and just want to eat dairy, tomatoes and carbs. the lentil spaghetti bolognase and sheperd's pie sound perfect for me tho!

I've just started a new thread looking for slow cooker advice and linked to a delicious lentil chilli recipe.

DH really loves chilli-con-carne, but he now prefers this lentil one! (Praise indeed).

I'm making the lentil, grapefruit and mackerel salad from the Guardian supplement mentioned below, tomorrow night and will report back.

Also theGuardian do a good series testing everyrecipefor a certain dish and then identifying the best one. They did it for dal and it is so delicious but so easy that it's amazing. I might have to have two dinners tomorrow in fact...
