I actually think a good processor makes ok cakes. I don't use it for that now, as I finally, after very many years, got a stand mixer in December.

But it does make ok cakes, especially with SR flour and 10ml baking powder as well per 200g flour. It is a magimix, and even given my new love affair with the kmix, the magimix is the thing I would save from a house fire!

I don't find it too bad to wash up, and also use the bendy spatula. I chuck it in the dishwasher as often as not.

I suppose it isn't worth it for people who don't cook heaps from fresh or who don't have lots of kids. I do have both situations, and work too, so I luffs it, as they say on here!

A recipe:

At the moment the kids love mackerel pate made with a packet of cheap smoked mackerel , half a lemon and 50g butter.

I make it for myself too but with fat free Greek yogurt or low fat cheap cheese/or Philadelphia/ or quark instead of the butter.

You can use different fish too.

Cream cheese not cheap cheese!

Marking place-I have nothing to offer and everything to gain from this thread!

Does anyone have a tried and tested recipe for pizza dough please?

Oh - and some half decent biscuits? Preferably ones DS can roll and cut out rather than dumpy cookies :-)

Looks like my poor fp is destined to a neglected life! Must buy a cookery book!

Key uses here:
Pastry
Biscuit dough
Crumble (basically anything that requires rubbing fat into flour as I'm too lazy!)
Mushroom pâté -sauté mushrooms (a supermarket punnet of ordinary buttons). Whizz in processor, then whizz in a tub of Philly or other of that kind of cream cheese.
Cupcakes (I don't risk a Victoria sponge but small cakes fine)
Breadcrumbs-usually used here for chicken goujons.

I really wouldn't willingly be without mine and I speak as the owner of a largely ornamental kitchen aid (but oh, is it pretty!)

Bob I used a recipe from a mumsnet thread recently. I think it was 1-2-3 ( 1 oz sugar, 2 oz butter, 3 oz flour). Plus flavouring eg vanilla or orange zest.

Thanks One. I'm off today and heading into town so I'll have a look for a recipe book too and hope that people share here too :-)
