I get through a lot of red lentils.. without me visiting every shop in town, where is the cheapest? Health food shop or supermarket do you think?

No worries lol, I thought for a minute there were 2 different types!

I've only bought them from Aldi.

I can't remember the price (bought them ages ago, won't have been expensive, though, being Aldi Grin ) or size of the bag as I put them in a container and threw the bag away. It wasn't a big bag, but the lentils were a bit compact, so got loads when the bag opened, IYSWIM.

Sorry, but I hope that helps in some sort of way. Smile

For me the Asian supermarket, Asda or Tesco world foods section. Same price locally but best to check first as if not significant local Asian population then the Asian supermarkets will be cheaper. Same for spices, chapatti flour and rice.
Also may be worth checking Amazon as they are sometimes quite competitive and may be worth paying little bit extra to have it delivered to your door!

Lidls are 89p, asda £1,home bargains 49p. I usually go for lidl as I can do a full shop.

Asian supermarket definitely

Redpriestandmozart · 09/01/2014 19:28

If I can't get to Asian supermarket in time (go through loads of them) then Tesco sell a 2 kilo for £2.99 so £1.50 a kilo, Tesco own brand is £1.29 a kilo.
