Dinner guests.... what to cook??

We have friends staying for New year. I have no idea what to cook though!?

He cooks alot and is quite adventurous. I am not and am a rubbish cook!

I need ideas that are easy but look impressive! Please help!

Steak pie.

Keep it simple. Most people have eaten far too much over Christmas anyway. You don't need to go to town.

Antipasti to start? Or melon with Parma ham? Or just a small bowl of pea and mint soup served in a teacup with a sprig of mint

Boeuf bourgignon. It's a doddle, you can make waay in advance and serve with mash or just boiled baby potatoes and some steamed greens.

Crumble for pudding?

Crumble is a great idea, add cinnamon into the crumble

Why not keep it really simple salmon and new potatoes or a roast chicken, salad and new potatoes. Can't go wrong.

Or steak and wedges.
