How long in the slow cooker?

Please help! I'm a slow cooker newbie.
My spiced beef recipe says to cook in the oven at 140C for 5 hours. How long should I cook it in the slow cooker for?

The longer the better - you can't overcook anything in a slow cooker, the longer it cooks the more tender the meat will be. Has your slow cooker got settings i.e. a low, high and auto? You can get away with 3-4 hours on high but need 6-7 hours on low. Use auto if you want to stick the food in and leave it all day or switch to auto after 3-4 hours on high if you are not yet ready to eat.

Put less liquid in, reduce by about 1/3 what the oven recipe says.

The oven recipe says to add 1/2 pint of water, so I just added the meat juices from where it's been marinating in the spices for the last week.
It smells amazing.
