Apple infused vodka has gone gloopy!

I made apple and cinnamon vodka again this year, same method as usual. Apples cored and cut up, plently of cinnamon, all covered in vodka in a sealed jar, kept in the dark for several weeks, and turned over a few times to keep it well mixed. I've strained it through a sieve twice, then a cloth to get all the bits out. Instead of a lovely golden vodka, I've got what looks a bit like caramel coloured runny egg whites. Confused

Does anyone know what's gone wrong? And most importantly, can I still drink it? Xmas Grin

Updating just in case anyone with the same problem searches and find this one day. I think a lovely friend and MNer has solved it for me. Pectin. I think maybe I peeled the apple before, and didn't this year. More pectin in the skins, means a thicker consistancy. Should hopefully still be drinkable, but I will peel the apples next year.

I wouldn' t be so sure about pectin, i made raspberry vodka and have it half liquid, half jelly- like. Iirc raspberries are low in pectin?

Throw it into a big bowl of punch, lots of fruit and cider. Nobody will complain about the gloop. Bet it tastes lovely. Xmas Envy

Mixed it with ginger ale to try it last night, it's definitely drinkable, so all it well. Xmas Grin
