Why does NOBODY sell granary flour? :o(

I've tried supermarkets, wholefood shops etc, and no-one sells it. I want to make granary bread. Does anyone know where I can buy it?

We don't have a Waitrose

What about malthouse? Would that do the trick for you? You can usually get Shipton Mill or Dove Farm at healthfood/wholefood shops. We use it mixed with white so it's not too heavy (buy it from our local farm shop)

I wonder if Ocad deliver in Exeter, as we don't have a Waitrose, and can you order just one or two things, rather than a whole shop? I'm not really financially in Waitrose's league, IYSWIM

I get mine from a water-mill ... which sounds a bit pretentious but it's very local and we're both interested in industrial archaeology so we go quite often. It's gorgeous.

we've only got a little 'tesco metro' in the middle of town, about a mile from us - our local supermarket is Sainsburys and they don't sell it - they sell "brown" and "wholemeal" but no granary

Minimum order is £25 I think. Not sure if Tesco's have a minimum.

granary is a hovis trademark. here is rather a lot of info on flour

i think allison's do similar. or just look for grains with some wholemeal, should be fine. you could mix it yourself even.

We get ours (the Hovis Granary) from Sainsbury's or Tesco's, just depending on where I am at the time. I'm sure that Sainsbury's is cheaper than that link though. I make granary bread all the time and my recipe (for the bread machine) means I get 2 and a half loaves out of one bag.

Both sainsburys and tescos stock it here. I bake it regularly

Please would you tell me the list of ingredients to use for Hovis Granary bread in a bread machine - it says on the packet to follow the guidelines from the bread machine but it doesn't have a recipe for granary bread in the booklet that came with the bread machine!!!!!!! So, how much hovis flour, water, oil, salt, sugar, yeast etc. A reply will be so much appreciated, thank you!!!

For a large loaf in my Panasonic I do:

475g Flour (sometimes do 2/3rds granary to 1/3rd white to make it go further)
25g butter (could use marg though)
320ml water
1 tsp yeast
1.5 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt

Put yeast and sugar in first then flour and salt, dice the butter and pour on the water.
