Can I colour chocolate?

Or paint on it with the sugar flair food colouring?
Also can I thin down the chocolate slightly but so that it will still set and if so how do I do it?
Thanks

Using paste colours in the white choc that is easy to buy here makes it difficult to work with as it starts to seize.i would use the wilton coloured cake pop covering

If you can get proper couverture and cocoa butter you would be better off. Or use powder colours

How hard does it need to set ? And what are you using it for ?

Cocoa butter is very useful

Thanks, I am making cake pops so need it to set hard. I have been using the wilton candy melts but it's still really thick and I'm struggling to coat the pops smoothly.
I was trying to do snowmen but couldn't get the scarf painted on right with the coloured chocolate so now it looks like a demon snowman.
