Fresh tasting cupcakes

I'm making a large batch of cupcakes for my friend's wedding. Will they still taste fresh on the afternoon of the wedding if I make them the evening before? They'll be in paper cases and frosted with butter icing (which I'll do in the morning of the wedding). Cupcakes never hang around long enough in my house to find out (and I can't be bothered to do a test batch just to find out -it'll ruin my diet Smile ), and I must admit that my stale radar is a bit off...
What do you think?

I'd think that the night before would be fine as long as sealed. But you can also freeze undecorated cakes too.

Ah, sealed... Of course. That'll do it. I was worried they'd dry out as they're so much smaller than a cake but if I put them away and get them out again to ice them, they'll be OK. Now I feel like such a ninny, I had actually envisaged just leaving them under a baking cloth on the cooling rack... Thank you!

Brush the tops with a bit of stock syrup before you frost them.
