Pot Luck supper - Ideas please!!

Hi am hoping our MN's can really help me. Have been invited to a PLuck Supper on Saturday and have decided to do a main course (10 people). What shall I do? Any ideas please will be most welcome.

WTF is a Pot Luck Supper? It sounds suspiciously like a scary 1970s suburban ritual to me, like wife-swapping and Tupperware parties

It is a dinner where everyone brings a dish so that the host does not have to provide the entire meal. Lasagna goes over well at these things. I am going to try to find the thread of all the recipes that were given to me for the cookbook. I'll be back.

I give up, I have spent a few minutes looking in archive and can't find the thread. I would go with a lasagna if you enjoy italian food. You can make it ahead, make a large tray of it and it will serve everyone.

Sunchowder thanks a lot think will go for lasagna and take some garlic bread. Think that PLSupper is a good idea as if everyone brings something the host doesn't have to do all the work only problem is you're not supposed to say what you are bringing so we could end up with mostly puds/starters or main meals.

We do these loads - they re a really good idea, esp as people usually have a dish they are really good at. Loads less hassle and expense for the hostess too. we are doing one this Saturday for ds's cricket club - there is a BBQ but lots of mums are bringing a dish to share. Yummy Your lasagne sounds lovely, Flowertop. Other favourites for mains seem to be curries, chili con carne, pies etc.

In the end I made a chicken and courgette pie using a pampered chef recipe. Must say it went down a treat (made 2 and they all went!) so if anyone needs recipe would be happy to provide. XX

Here goes, might be long...
8oz courgettes thinly sliced, 1 tbls olive oil, 4 tbls chopped parsley, 2 eggs divided, 2 tbls creme fraiche, 4oz gruyere cheese, 2 cloves garlic pressed, 8oz skinless, boneless cooked chicken breasts, salt and gound black pepper, 1 packet chilled fresh ready-rolled puff pastry (1 sheet.
Preheat oven to 200C. Place courgettes in pan, drizzle oil over them and toss to coat, Saute for 6-8 mins. Remove from pan onto kitchen paper.
Break 1 egg into bowl, add creme fraiche, whisk to combine. Grate 3oz cheese into bowl, add garlic and parsley mix well.
Chop chicken into small pieces add chicken and courgettes to other mixture and stir gently until all is mixed in. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Unroll papstry sheet and place on baking sheet (baking sheet should be oiled first). May need to roll the pastry sheet out a little as I usually do a rectangle. Spoon mixture into centre of pastry leaving approx 2 inches border around edges of pastry. Grate remaining cheese over filling. Gather pastry sides and ends up and over filling - the centre of the filling should not be covered.
Brush remaining egg over pastry and bake for 25-30 mins until pastry is crisp and golden brown. Cool for 10 mins before slicing. The garlic really works well with the cheese and chicken and is really yummy. Let meknow what you think.
