Can I freeze butter icing?

DS1 had to take butter icing made with 250g butter and 200g icing sugar to school to ice a Victoria sandwich (plus glace icing for the top!)

I knew it was too much and he has brought most of it home. Will it be Ok in the freezer until I get round to using it?

Yes it should've fine. I personally find I can taste 'freezer' in it so always mix more with it. But no one else seems to, so It could be psychological!

Freezing it is fine, just make sure it is well wrapped so it doesn't absorb other flavours

Don't keep it for more than about 3 months though, as the flavour will degrade
