indian cook book recommendations

Hi there, as per the subject really.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for an indian cook book.

I wouldn't call myself a beginner but i'm certainly no chef either :) I just want to be able to make homemade curries that have a little 'wow' factor which is way more than I can do now!

TIA

We have several by Anjum Anand and a couple by Madhur Jaffrey. We have an Anjum curry most weeks

Yes I can recommend a few, I love curries!

For quick and easy midweek meals I'd recommend 30 Minute Indian by Sunil Vijayakar. It's probably the one I use most often.

For authenticity and 'wow' factor (especially if you've ever been to India and eaten the food there, rather than the anglicised versions you get over here) I'd recommend Rick Stein India (the new one). Really excellent curries, I've only done a few but have been really impressed. The TV series was good too.

I like Madhur Jaffrey for simplicity, clarity and ease of finding ingredients.

I'd second anjum anand recipes. I find her portions a little mean though sometimes and wonder if she serves her curry with lots of side dishes so it stretches to six people.

Another vote for Madhur Jaffrey. We love her recipes.
