Crumble topping - sugar advice please!

The recipe calls for Demerara sugar, I only have a little bit but have masses of soft light brown sugar.

Is that a suitable substitute? Thanks.

It'll be nicer probably - might be slightly less crunchy.

I wouldn't, because I don't like brown sugar. Ordinary granulated nicer.

Against all expectations, the paper shop which sells very little indeed actually had Demerara so that solved my problem!!
