How to cook stuffing for Xmas dinner

We're having a turkey breast joint for Xmas as there are only a few of us that eat Turkey. I still want to do different stuffings but clearly can't do it in the turkey as I usually would.

So how do I cook them? Stuffing balls or make a thick 'saucisson' type roll of them seems sensible but how do I stop them from burning on the outside and being raw in the middle?

I normally spread mine out in a baking tray. I like mine fairly crispy on the outside. Balls or roll would work fine and would probably cook quicker. This is a good one!

This year I'm making the stuffing in the slow cooker, today I'm doing the vegan one (using vegan sausages minced instead of pork meat), onion, sage, breadcrumbs and a little water to bind. Rolling into a sausage shape, wrapping tightly in a roast bag and let it steam for about three hours. I don't like it crisped up as it does in the oven so giving this a go instead. I will let you know what the result is like, I will do the meat version for rest of the family at Christmas.

Definitely let me know how that goes in the slow cooker, that would be a great solution!

If I did it in a roll in the oven, could I wrap it in aluminium foil to stop it getting too crispy?

My stuffing is done, I put it on high in slow cooker and did it for 4.5 hours. The slow cooker is a small one, I put two upturned ramekin dishes in the bottom and added about an inch of water. I wrapped the stuffing tightly in a roast bag and placed it on the ramekins. The ends are nicely browned and I'm happy with consistency and colour oh and the taste! I currently have a meat one cooking in the bigger slow cooker, I took it out to look at it but will give it another couple of hours. I did this one in a tin and again with about an inch of water. I suppose these have steamed really.

I mix onion, sausage meat, bread crumbs, salt, pepper and sage if needed. Make it I to a rectangle shape wrap in tin foil and put it in the oven.

You can do it the night before if you like. I can never remember how long it takes to cook Confused
