A "Thank You for the Recipes" thread

Two MN recipes have become household standards in this house:

  • Franny's muesli recipe
  • suzywong's courgette, mascarpone, pancetta and lemon (which probably isn't a recipe just something she made up to help me one day, but still, we eat it pretty often).

And tonight I tried Franny's sugar-free wholemeal banana cake. I was quite skeptical, which wasn't helped by the fact I had to wing the SR part of the wholemeal flour.

That being said, it's really tasty, and I'm very happy with it.

Suzywong's chocolate brownies have just gone down a treat after a long lunch with friends chez milge , complete with raspberries and clotted cream. Thank you SW!

WideWebWitch · 16/07/2006 19:39

Moondog's lentil, thyme and feta salad.

MerlinsBeard · 16/07/2006 19:40

could we have a special section for mumsnetters recipes? Instead of the plain recipe section u shpuld have to nomintae recipes to go in the other part! (i herby nominates Marsys Lemon Drizzle Cake )

NotQuiteCockney · 16/07/2006 21:59

It certainly would make linking to them a lot easier ...

Can I add Moondogs spare rib marinade coupled with Suzy Wongs cooking method
And Frannys baked beans (even with the husks )

Squarer · 16/07/2006 22:08

Oh, and Prufrocks stuffed chicken breasts - had them tonight for the first time and I can assure you it won't be the last

fannyfannacapants · 17/07/2006 12:01

TwoIfBySeas meatball and pasta sauce recipes! Such a godsend!

FrannyandZooey · 17/07/2006 12:05

Ooh thank you all for the thank yous

(can I do smileys on here NQC? )

If I wasn't such a lazy cook I would actually cook some of the fantastic recipes I have seen on here instead of just writing them down.

That cake converts anyone who thinks wholemeal sugar free cake is going to be blah. I wish I could make it for HC but she doesn't like bananas. Did you try it with the no added sugar icing, NQC?

MamaG · 17/07/2006 12:09

OOh can I have that recipe please Franny? I make Mrs Badgers, but would like a sugar free wholemeal one, would feel less guilty!

I regularly make Twiglett's muffins

Somebody's bonfire night bics (sorry can't remember whose they are)

MrsBadger · 17/07/2006 12:18

the gem that is the waitrose tuna meatball, as reccommended on cod's Fishy thread.

74Jamie · 17/07/2006 12:23

can i have the sugar free banana recipe please?

FrannyandZooey · 17/07/2006 12:27

Oh certainly, but where is the darn thing?

FrannyandZooey · 17/07/2006 12:29

Aha.

I thought I must have posted it during one of my ill advised name changes, but in fact I just spelt my own name wrong during the search

MamaG · 17/07/2006 12:30

Thank you!

FrannyandZooey · 17/07/2006 12:32

Yes, it was the obvious mis-spelling as well, in case you were wondering.

MamaG · 17/07/2006 12:33

pmsl

NotQuiteCockney · 17/07/2006 12:36

A neighbour has an apple cake with wholemeal flour, but no bananas. I have a lot of recipes for cakes which are reasonably worthy (carrot, pumpkin, courgette, whatever), but nothing quite as worthy as that one.

I am, of course, tempted to tinker with it now, though. What if you use oatmeal in place of some of the flour? And I'm tempted to add vanilla extract and/or (a tiny bit of) molassees.
