Small tins and baking times

I am making Delia's Christmas cake and I want to bake it in small 10cm tins. The original is in a 20cm tin but it's also much higher. Do I halve the original baking time (4 hrs +) ?

Also, went to Line the tin (after making the batter), classic error I know and found I don't have paper. How long can I leave the batter on the side in my hunt for baking paper?

Probably half the baking time would not be sufficient. You could check at 2hr and gauge it from there.
