vegetarian christmas- the ultimate challenge

OK, I bet you think you have the answer- a nice nut roast or a mushroomy en croute type thing. But sadly neither suits everyone and for years I have cooked 2 main courses. Can you resolve these conflicting needs???
We are all vegetarian. One adult dc is allergic to nuts. One doesn't like mushrooms. Nobody (except me) likes blue cheese. Squash are not favoured. We all LOVE roast potatoes, parsnips, sprouts, gravy etc so a totally non traditional solution (like a posh curry) won't do. I have just spent too long trawling the web and can't find anything nice enough for christmas that will suit everyone. Any ideas? TIA

I'd add another vote for Delia's Parsnip Roulade - it's really good, fairly simple to make and really impressive. Instead of nuts you could roll it in breadcrumbs that you toasted with olive oil and a little bit of garlic.

What about those American onion flower things, basically an onion sliced to look like a flower deep fried.

Or something like stuffed onions and or peppers.

Or a great big Yorkshire pudding for everyone to share (if you do eggs and milk)

Pancakes - make ahead of time and on the day fill with cheese / cream cheese / chopped tomatoes / whatever everyone will eat and then stick them in the oven for 15 mins so they come out all crispy.

My mum always made a big pie in a plait filled with feta cheese and spinach

If you're after a pie there's a great recipe in Leiths Veggie Bible Puy lentil lattice.

I made a filo strudel last week and it was amazing and looked fabulous. You could fill it with anything really but I did roasted brussellsprouts (and other veg and pulses) of all things!!
